I
I am absolutely over the moon excited to share this incredible birth story with you. Let’s rewind about 10 months ago when I had the honor of photographing this family for the first time. During our ordering session, the mom shared with me the incredible news that she was newly pregnant and expressed her desire for me to document her birth journey. I was deeply touched to be one of the first people she confided in and immensely grateful to have been chosen to share in this profound experience with her.
I’ve mentioned it before, but it bears repeating – while I may not have loved being pregnant myself, I absolutely adored the experience of giving birth. It was a moment of unparalleled wonder and strength. However, when my husband and I made the decision to not have any more children, I mourned the fact that I would never get to experience childbirth again. Photographing births, however, has granted me the opportunity to relive that extraordinary experience (minus the pregnancy and pain!). If it weren’t for the significant time commitment involved, I would eagerly document more births without hesitation.
The wait until the baby was “fully cooked” felt like a lifetime, but when the moment finally arrived to capture this incredible journey, it exceeded all expectations. As soon as I saw the mom, I was overcome with emotion and couldn’t help but shed tears of joy, wrapping her in a heartfelt hug. And when the baby made their entrance into the world, I cried tears of pure elation – so much so that my camera’s eyepiece fogged up from the intensity of my emotions. It was a profoundly beautiful moment, one that took my breath away and left an indelible mark on my soul.
While the family has expressed their gratitude to me countless times for capturing this precious moment, I cannot begin to express my gratitude to them for allowing me to share in this life-altering experience. Witnessing the miracle of birth through my lens is an experience that I will cherish forever, a reminder of the profound beauty and resilience of the human spirit.
Without further ado, I invite you to watch the video of this remarkable birth. While it may not be perfect – as I am still learning the art of videography – the raw emotion captured within it is truly moving. So grab your tissues, and let’s embark on this emotional journey together. ENJOY, Taryn
