2020 – what a year it’s been, and we still have two months left. Despite its challenges, I can confidently say that this year has brought some unique opportunities and experiences, especially in my photography journey.
While it’s been my slowest year for newborn sessions, I’ve had the privilege of photographing more babies in the 2-12 month range than ever before – and I’m not complaining. There’s something truly special about witnessing babies grow and develop their little personalities during their first year. It’s a phase that passes by in the blink of an eye, but it’s one I’d gladly revisit over and over again. It’s my absolute favorite.
For those considering hiring me, I offer a 1st-year package that allows families to document all the changes that happen during this precious time. It’s truly a joy to revisit families and capture their journey as it unfolds.
One particular client booked me back when “corona” was just a great beer for drinking on the beach (cheesy, I know, but I had to). When she finally welcomed her baby into the world, we found ourselves in the midst of quarantine, with everything shut down. Despite the challenges, she was determined to capture her newborn’s early days, so we got creative.
I ventured over to her home and captured a few photographs from the window, as well as some from the front porch. These images hold a special place in my heart because they truly encapsulate the times we’re living in – masks and all.
As restrictions began to ease and we transitioned into the “yellow phase,” the baby was about 2 months old, and we seized the opportunity to capture some more intimate moments. We started with a few masked shots indoors and later ventured outside, always practicing social distancing.
I love the variety of this gallery of photos – each image telling a unique story of resilience, love, and adaptation during these unprecedented times.
If you are thinking about booking a newborn session and are concerned about Covid, lets set up a time to chat and talk through creative ways to still capture your infant.
Enjoy. XO, Taryn
