I’ve been itching to share something that’s been on my mind for quite some time now. Since 2011, when I embarked on my photography journey here in Pittsburgh, I’ve had the incredible privilege of capturing the moments of hundreds of families. Each family handpicked me because they felt that my art resonated with their vision. That’s the beauty of selecting a photographer for your family – you have the freedom to choose someone who aligns with your style and values. I’ve never been disappointed to see a friend opt for another photographer. In fact, I’m always thrilled to see them taking the initiative to document their family’s journey and leave behind a legacy. That, to me, is truly what matters most.
So, my message is simple: Just get photos done. It’s not really for us, it’s for our kids. These memories will be cherished for generations to come.

“When you have a newborn, you make a long list of “to do’s” and only get to some of them in a timely fashion… so even though this is a “bit” late, I couldn’t go without writing a review for Blu Hippo Photography because if my experience helps someone make the decision to say YES to Blu Hippo Photography, then it’s all worth it!
I originally planned to hire Taryn to do a maternity shoot without the thought of newborn photos but after an awesome and personal phone call with her, I knew I’d want both.
First, I just want to say that Taryn spent countless moments with us getting the exact shots that I wanted with my maternity photos. She took the time to listen to what I was looking for and captured everything I hoped for… She is so talented and has an incredible gift in getting the right shots, angles, and has such an eye for aesthetic details but also making you feel very comfortable throughout the shoot. She captures moments that really tell a story.
Now, as a new mom having just delivered a baby, the last thing you want to do is get yourself and your home “photo ready” for newborn shots… BUT! Those moments come and go in a flash and you’ll want every ounce captured in a photo… and if you want someone who is going to capture the heart and soul of your family, hire Taryn. She came in and shot such special moments for us and we could not have been more thrilled with everything.
Taryn is so gifted at reading the environment and knowing the exact “must have” shots all while making you feel amazing. She is absolutely the person to hire for any photos that you want to come to life and tell a story. If you’re on the fence about photography, just say yes and use Blu Hippo – you won’t ever regret it!”
