As I recently went to share an outdoor family session blog post for a potential client, I realized it’s been too long since I’ve highlighted the beauty of an outdoor on-location session. While I’ve been eager for Pittsburgh to embrace the idea of shooting at people’s homes, I’ve inadvertently neglected to showcase the magic of outdoor sessions.
So, what’s the difference between at-home and on-location outdoor sessions, you might ask? Essentially, at-home sessions tend to lean slightly more towards the documentary style, where I capture moments both inside and around the home, without the need to leave the house. On the other hand, on-location outdoor sessions involve working with clients to choose a location around Pittsburgh (or beyond – I’m available for travel!) and meeting them there roughly two hours before sunset (or sunrise, if preferred). Both options are equally wonderful, and I love them for different reasons. During over-the-phone consultations, I can usually help clients determine which option is the better fit for them.
If you’re ever on the fence about which type of session to choose, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m always happy to chat, even if you ultimately decide I’m not the right fit for you. Just drop me a line via the CONTACT FORM, and let’s talk!
Now, let’s talk about this lovely family. I had the pleasure of photographing the youngest member when she was just a wee newborn, and it’s been a joy to capture their family’s milestones since then. Kudos to the mom for styling this session on her own – the coordination of colors couldn’t have been more perfect. New clients, take notes!
Enjoy. XO, Taryn
