What’s the worst thing you can do for SEO?

For those of you who aren’t photographers, feel free to skip ahead to the pictures – I promise they’re worth it! But for those interested, here’s a quick rundown of what you’re about to see. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this client several times over the last 6 years, starting with big brother when he was still in his mom’s belly – one of my very first maternity sessions. This past year alone, I’ve had the joy of capturing their family three times, documenting all of little brother’s milestones from birth to 6 months and then his first year. Dad is a bit camera shy, so you won’t see many photos of him on the blog, but trust me, he’s just as adorable as the rest of the family.

Now, for my fellow photographers out there, let’s talk about the worst thing you can do for SEO (search engine optimization) – and that’s not blogging (insert face-plant emoji here). I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been pretty terrible about it, but maybe this year will be different. Setting goals for myself at the beginning of the year (goals, not resolutions) is something I’ve always struggled with, and “blog more” is always at the top of my list. However, I’m happy to report that 2018 is off to a great start in other areas – I’ve always wanted to read more, and this year, I actually am! It’s a small victory, but I’ll take it. While we’re on the topic of blog tips, another good thing to do for SEO is to occasionally talk about things that aren’t related to photography. For those of you following my Instagram stories, you probably know that our house has been undergoing a massive kitchen (plus another room) renovation, and it’s almost complete.
